Andrew T Kearns Vlog bounces all over the place – in a happy-go-lucky way. Yet he imparts a ton of wisdom about photography in the process.
His obligatory video What’s in My Travel Camera Bag leaves the viewer with a poignant piece of advice:
It’s not a purchase, it’s a process.
Most photographers get caught up in the gear they buy. They analyze halo and chromatic aberration and other technical imperfections that their gear may impart without considering if their work is even any good…
If your work sucks, what does it matter if the lens is less than perfect?
If your work is boring and lacking visual interest, who cares if your photos have some vignetting?
The moral of the Andrew T Kearns Vlog is this: just shoot.
Practice more with the gear you have on hand.
Get busy doing the work, and let the technical aspects take care of themselves over time.
Whether it’s your Iphone, Smart phone, point and shoot, mirrorless or dslr camera… get busy learning by doing – and tell a story with your work.
